exos 2.5 pump burns

Postby masha » Mon Aug 29, 2011 3:51 pm

I had two new units, on first pump burned out in 4 month, second unit pump burned out in 3 month.
Why?
1. computer turned on 24/7
2. P set to 10 (as koolance default)
3. All Koolance parts, all tubing 10mm.

My loop:
Exos 2.5 -> cpu block -> mobo block -> 120 alluminun rad -> 120 alluminun rad -> GPU block -> Koolance 1000W -> back to exos

I am satisfied with cooling, but PMP-400 keeps on burning. I know its not water bubble/controller - I can smell it burn.
What do I do, add pump? where in a loop would you recommend?
How do I control that pump?

If I get flow meter, is it useful in troubleshooting pump performance? perhaps watch flow degrade over time on same pump speed?

Thank you.

If you keep it on the whole time and have it all the way maxed that's your problem. Its not meant to be kept on the whole time. Cause when the pump dies, then the components get hot and can cause serious damage. My suggestion, when you don't use the PC shut it down. It will have a lot less stress on the pump and you don't need it to flow that hard,

Me thinks your stressing your pump out, reduce pump speed to 5 and see what effect it has on your temps.
