4x120 radiator vs Lian Li PC-A71F

Postby Xfiles » Sun Nov 06, 2011 1:01 pm

Hello,

I'm starting to plan my next pc and watercooling part of what i want.

I'm going to be useing the new Sandy Bridge-E processors and want to water kool my CPU, GPU's (gtx 570 x2) and maybe motherboard.

I'd like to use the 4x120 radiator drop-in unit (link).

I've been looking into computer casses that could house that huge radiator. I've come across the Lian Li PC-A71F (link) according to the specs of the computer case it should fit ( W x H x D 220mm x 585mm x 615mm)

I was wondering if any of you guys / girls have any experiance with the 4x120 mm radiator or the Lian Li PC-A71F.

If there are other computer casses that could house the radiator I would like the names so i can see if it's useable as my new computer case.

Thank you in advance for your help and / or advice.

Greetz,

The mountain mods extended series cases should have options for a 4x120 rad. However looking over the measurements of the case you have selected and the measurements of a ENC-480 which is slightly bigger than the radiator you should have enough room to play with. You will need to make good use of a dremel or similar tool to cut open the top of the case however assuming that is where you intend to mount it.

woooow those are some seriously big cases :o

the plan is to modify the top of the Lian Li case so it can be droped in.

This was the only case I could find that was big enough and was completly flat without holes on the top to make it easyer to mod (first time trying something like this).

But I'll keep that other case in mind if I want to go really all out on a build.
Man the posibility's with that huge case are endless :P

Thnx for the advice :)

Oh one side not you will loose your top drive bay due to the size of the radiator with the lian li. 2 drive bays if you mount fans to the bottom of the radiator. If you get a fan shroud so you can mount the fans on top outside (and make your final job look neater since it will hide the cuts) and you will only loose 1 bay.

The plan is to put the fans outside the case with the shroud.

I was planning on useing Radiator/Fans/Shroud Assembly Kit, 4x120mm, Copper [no nozzles].

And seeing as it has 5 drive bays i can lose 3 without any problems.

Because I need 1 bay for my Blu ray player and 1 bay for my Reservoir (Reservoir and Pump, RP-985 or Reservoir and Pump, RP-1005)
