Postby Louislb » Thu Oct 31, 2013 8:09 pm

How long should I change all the O-rings for my system?

This varies widely on the size and amount of stress on the individual o-ring and can be difficult to predict. For black EPDM o-rings, most seals will probably last beyond the lifetime of the product (>10yrs, for example). This assumes you're operating at normal pressure ranges using pumps similar in spec to what we offer.

If they're actively being rotated or used, swiveling fittings, quick disconnects, or other moving parts will wear out sooner than a stationary seal. Not all o-rings are replaceable, though, particularly if they're inside a fitting or assembly.

Some of the o-rings can still be sourced even if Koolance no longer carries them. I was able to pick up EPDM o-rings from a local o-ring supply place that are compatible with the 8800GTS water blocks I sold.

EPDM kits are not hard to come by qs well. Your local plumbing wholesale place will have them qnd EPDM is very easy to work with . Basically you just measure it out then cut it on a angle and superglue it together . I have made many of them for chemical pumps and the kit we had came with a guide and 3 or 4 sizes of O ring matteral as well as a razor blade . All in a small plastic box .oh it came super glue too . For EPDM it uses locktite super glue .
