Why is it so hard to get a straight answer :)

He needs to know pulses per minute. I see a math head post and lots of references to "the manual" which does not list pulses per minute. How about someone make that translation? I'm sure it would be helpful for others as well.

I'm not particularly sure what information is missing. If you bypass the INS-FM17 multiplier board and read the flow meter directly, this is the pulse frequency chart (in the user manual/website):

As Izerous mentioned, it would be pulse x 3.285 for 10-13mm ID, or 3.627 for 6mm ID.

However, if you are connecting to the included multiplier board, the pulses/liter should be (x10) 32.85 for 10-13mm ID, and (x9) 32.64 for 6mm ID.

Out of curiosity,

hows is it that 3/8 and 1/2 ID flowrates are equal? Is it because the sensor itself has smaller ID then the 1/2 therefore the flow makes no difference?

Yes, our G 1/4" threaded sockets have an internal diameter of 3/8". With a short, low-restriction component like the flow meter, the impeller rotation should not change much if the in/out tubes are 1/2" or 3/8" ID.

The correct pulses per minute out of the flow meter (without the multiplier board) is 197 for the Aquaero. You hook up one wire to the ground and the other wire to the RPM pin on the Aquaero. More information can be found here.

As has clearly been stated above, for 10mm ID or larger, LPM = 0.3044 * HZ.

LPM = Liters per minute.
HZ = Pulses per second aka PPS.

To solve for HZ, substitute 1 for LPM and divide both sides by 0.3044.

HZ = 1 / 0.3044.

Then to turn HZ (PPS) into the number of pulses per minute (PPM), multiply by 60.

PPM = HZ * 60

197 = (1 / 0.3044) * 60

That gives 197.1... (and so on, we really only have four significant digits to work with).

197 is likely close enough.

Are you using an Aquaero? This thread is for customers connecting the INS-FM17 to the Aquaero.

If you're connecting the INS-FM17 to the motherboard or a regular fan controller, the RPM's represent mL/min. This is described on the product's web page and in the user manual.
