Anyone have any pics of multiple Koolance HD Blocks in pc?

Postby bambihunter » Thu Jul 16, 2009 10:23 am

I am considering using multiple HD blocks in a PC5-1336 (LianLi V2100 series) case. I am thinking of using multiples of them to cool only a single drive because I don't like the looks of the drives flipped back and forth, plus it can't be easy to wire. Is the spacing between the drives enough to use one of those blocks under each drive?

Anyway, if you have ANY pics of a similar case with EITHER of Koolance's HD blocks please post them. I'd like to see how you did them.
Thanks.

P.S. With SSD's becoming more and more mainstream maybe this isn't a wise investment, but I think rotating drives will be with us for another decade. I just bought 4 2tb drives for my media center to put in RAID-0 so I guess I am in it for a while. ;)

Be careful using koolance equipment with those thermaltake drive coolers.

If you're using a koolance aluminum rad, you're going to have corrosion problems since the thermaltake piping is copper.

There are some installed pics (in Lian-Li Chassis) at http://www.koolance.com/product_wizard/ ... e_help.php

That product is not likely to cool better than ours. It's copper pipe attached to a solid plate, whereas we are using a single-piece cooler (Hydra-Pak for the HD-57, or stainless steel for the HD-60). Our water blocks only mount to the bottom portion of the hard drive, so they can easily be converted to 5.25" bays with a standard drive bay adapter like this one:

I saw those Tim. I was hoping someone would have some pics with them all in a row with one on each drive instead of flipping every-other-one upside down. I'd also like to see what they'd look like with the cables on them. It is hard to visualize it with the sata and power wires connected along with all the blocks and tubing.

thank you to everyone who posted as I am trying to come to terms with what kind of Hdd waterkooler to use and it seems like the only compatible solution is the Koolance solution.

I only wished that Koolance made a 5.25 bay enclosed Hdd kooler that not only is a waterblock but also a hdd silencer!!!!

An example of what I mean is this AquaDrive Dual in which XtremeComputing has rated it excellent see below link!

http://www.xtremecomputing.co.uk/review.php?id=272&page=5

However both Bambihunter and Hellfiretoyz both told me that Aluminum won't play nicely with Koolance kit.....

I never took Chemistry in HS or college ergo metal ignorant but not ignorant enough not to ask before screwing my system :D
