loop design?

Postby zabes » Fri Feb 11, 2011 9:40 am

going to upgrading my system and continue liquid cooling it. my question is the best loop design.

current system and loop
asus rampage formula
core 2 duo e6600 @ 3.6
asus 1gb 4870

rp-1000 - (1/2")-> cpu (cpu330) -> splitter -(1/4")-> NB (ch-125)-> SB (ch-120) -> splitter - (1/2") -> radiator (3x 120)
________________________________ |------(1/4")-> 4870 gpu -------------------------|

new system loop
asus rampage formula 3
i7 950
2x asus 6970
rp-1000(1/2")-> cpu (cpu330) -> splitter - (1/4") -> mobo -> vreg ---------> splitter - (1/2") -> radiator (3x 120)
|------ (1/4") -> 6970 gpu -> 6970 gpu ----|

or should i go with single flow design
rp-1000 -> cpu (cpu-330) -> mobo -> vreg -> gpu -> gpu -> radiator (3x 120)

single flow and toss in a 1.120 rad before the GPU's or where ever makes sense. You might also want to start thinking of a dual pump or stronger pump if you intend to do more in the future.

I know this is an old topic but what about putting the rad in after the rp so it would not get warm so quick. And what Iz said you might need a better pump (pmp400 for 10mm tubing or the 450 for 13mm tubing). Maybe a couple more radiators would not be a bad idea just to keep the temps down.
