Water Cooling a Cheap System for Asthetics?

Postby Poopenflaggen » Sat Jun 20, 2015 2:39 pm

So my system performs for whatever it does that I need. I have no reason to upgrade anything except my cpu and motherboard which are coming soon. But I want to water cool my system, why?, so it will look better thann all my friends obviously. So I need some help, i've heard that its almost impossible to find a water block for a low end graphics card and mine is definitely down there, I have a Radeon R7 260X running off and i3 processor and a micro atx motherboard, trust me I know its cringe-worthy and I do apologize, however I would like to start including some water cooling into the system so where in the hell do I start. I need all you water cooling professionals to pitch in ideas other than upgrade my system. I'll get there when I need to. But anyways here's my specs, pls help.

ECS LGA 1150 Micro Itx Motherboard
Radeon R7 260X GPU
ADATA 64 GB SSD
2 TB WD Green Hard Drive
Case: NZXT H440 White with Black Trim

If you just wanna talk crap about my system have fun lmao

As your question is a bit broad and there have been a bunch of posts about how to determine how much tubing to buy or how much liquid etc I'll cover the one direct comment you made about lower tier graphics cards.

Full coverage water blocks are typically only made for mainstream product lines. That means it is true that it is unlikely that you will find a full coverage block for the 260X. Does mean there are full coverage blocks for cards like the 290X though. This doesn't mean you can't liquid cool a 260X just means that you would need to use a universal block supplemented with stick on heat sinks for the memory instead. Otherwise it would be necessary to ditch the video card.

So with that being said it really isn't hard to start your loop with both the CPU and GPU.

Do you have a universal block that you would recommend?

From koolance your choices are GPU-200, GPU-210, GPU-220.

The 210 is "35mm x 35mm (1.4in x 1.41in)"
and
The 200/220 are "45mm x 45mm (1.8in x 1.8in)"

I'm not sure how big the chip is on the 260x but the 220 is nicer than the 200, so it really leaves you to the 210 or 220 depending on the size of the chip.
