COMMENT ONLY

I have several Panaflo 120x38mm Medium Speed FBA12G12M1BX fans. At full power these run about 2100 RPM. I was playing around adjusting the fan speed to each level to see 1) how low I could go without stalling the fans and 2) to see what sort of RPMs each power level would attain.

When I adjusted the power level the fan speed visually appeared to vary sensibly and looked good. However, the RPM reading as read by the TMS software fluctuated to insane values. For any value less than 100% the RPM reading could quickly go down to zero or up to 7000 RPM or anywhere in between and wasn't at all stable. The RPM reading wouldn't go back to a reasonable value until I put the power level back to 100%.

Unfortunately I don't have a scope otherwise I'd take a look at what the signal on the fan RPM lead looked like and whether it's the fans putting out insane signals or the TMS hardware/software interpreting the waveforms wrong.

UPDATE (12-Aug-2009): I recently switched out the Panaflo fans for 1,850 RPM Gentle Typhoons. The Gentle Typhoons report sensible fan speeds at all speed levels. Note however that 100% power gives a nominal 1,740 to 1,800 RPM instead of 1,850 that I thought I'd get (no big deal). Also, at the lowest speed of 10%, the RPMs only reduce to 1,380 RPM. Not much spread there. Interesting but acceptable behavior compared to the Panaflo fans.

So I'm guessing by looking at the changelog there is still no "Hysteresis"? Would really be usefull if it could be patched in because I'm still controlling one line of fans manually now, because they will just start spinning up and down like crazy when they reach the spinup temperature.

PROBLEM REPORT

1) The new shutdown "Pump RPM" setting for pump1 and pump2 are labled as GPM or LPM depending on the flow rate unit setting. Shouldn't those both be labeled as RPM at all times?

And far more pedantic, but sometimes I just can't resist:

2) The settings "Temperature Unit" setting should probably be more properly termed the "Temperature Scale" setting. Also, although Centigrade is considered to be synonymous with Celsius, the temperature scale should probably more properly be termed "Celsius (℃)."

Question for Admin and all who are using the newest Software:

Are you Guys run your Computer as Administrator or as Limited User when you test this Software???
I ask this because if you run your Computer as Admin it is the same as you would let your house door wide open and everybody is invited.

I have tested the Software as Limited user and it is not working at all, the same with DEP Security Settings and UAC User Controll.

As long this is not Supported, please remove in the "Software Compatibility" Colum on the download page "Vista and Windows 7 supported". Because it is only Supported if those functions are working!!!!

If this is supported in the mean time, i appoligize, if not REMOVE IT OR FIX IT.

I still hold open to Return the Product because of incompatibility of Vista or Windows 7.

Admin, of course. This is why I would like Koolance to redesign TMS into separate service and user interface parts. TMS start up with windows would also work better that way.

I'm having the same issue with fan readings - if it's not 100%, then no RPM value is displayed.

EDIT: Also, if there's no fan RPM display, then it's not displayed on the graph reading as well.

I've also noticed that if I exit out of the TMS software and restart it a few minutes later, that it wil give a 2-beep alarm when starting up.

This is my 3rd. board.I'm still having same problems at start up. I get a double beep with a warning ( PC shutdown Activated) Warning this computer is pending Shutdown unsaved files and documents may be lost! Flowmeter rate 17 FlowIfm17 PC shutdown countdown 60sec. click OK or Cancel flashes on screen. PC seems to start normal then but my pump is knocked off of auto to manual at #10 the highest setting. So at start up ,not only do I have to give permission to run in windows vista 64. I now have to go into the tms-200 settings and change the pump setting back to auto and click save. The new firmware update has not fixed the problem, also in shutdown it should say RPM not GPP orLPM. I hope they fix the board before the Warranty runs out.

PROBLEM REPORT

1. Every time TMS automatically starts when I log into Windows I'm getting a spurious shutdown warning message (without any beeps) which quickly dismisses itself (without my clicking on anything). It goes by too fast for me to read, but it says something like, "your computer is pending shutdown."

Here is the contents of the debug.log immediately after such an occurrence:

TMSv2 Debugs
FrmMain.mChkAlarm, 13:Type mismatch

2. If I stop and re-start TMS, I get a spurious SHUTDOWN initiation (accompanied by two loud beeps) which quickly dismisses itself (without my clicking on anything). It goes by too fast for me to read, but it says something like, "your computer is pending shutdown."

Here is the contents of the debug.log immediately after such an occurrence:

TMSv2 Debugs
FrmxPlayer.mLoadBin, 0:

FrmMain.Form_MouseMove, 401:Can't show non-modal form when modal form is displayed

UPDATE: I just noticed there is also a shutdown.log. Here is the contents of the shutdown.log immediately after such an occurence:
