370 Waterblock Finish Question..

Postby Dissident » Sat Jun 04, 2011 4:20 pm

Hey all,

I just purchased and received the 370 and was curious about the finish.

The top is very rough looking with serious orange peel texture. Is this normal for these blocks or did I receive a bad one? This is my first time with Koolance, my other block is the Swiftech Apogee XT and the finish on it is perfect.

Here is a photo but it's a little hard to tell with the flash..

First time posters usually go through the admin first so it will take a few days. You might of gotten a rough cut of the block and the piece didn't go through the finishing process. Try contacting koolance with this problem and they will help you out. I have the 360 block and the suface is smooth and that's how it should be for the 370.

Koolance blocks are usually finished very well. The CPU-360 I think was the first block I had where the back plate behind the motherboard wasn't a near mirror finish. If a Koolance rep doesn't respond to your forum post try contacting them directly instead of via the forums and refer to this post with the picture. I'll try to remember to take a peak at the top plates I have for my 360.

Another thing is that it could possibly be corroded meaning when the machine was finished making the part they forgot to clean off all the coolant on it. And on top of that like I said in another post they just forgot to finish the actual part. It happens rarely though.
