CHC 122 leaked

Postby witchbutter » Wed Oct 07, 2009 1:13 am

I moved my system into a new case and for some reason now my CHC 122 northbridge cooler has a very tiny leak in it. It leaked on the motherboard during my initial fill, primarily on the underside because it seeped through the post holes for the northbridge. Thankfully it was not powered on when this happened. What is the appropriate cleaning solution/method to clean off the motherboard?

De assemble and wipe down, allow to fully dry.

If you do it right and everything is discharged and you latter allow for proper drying could even use tap water if you were careful enough. In short anything that won't damage the components.

Welcome to the CHC-122 leak club... I just used water to clean up the coolant fluid, then a once-over with alcohol when done to make sure I didn't leave anything behind. Just make positive it is completely dry before reusing it.

What I did on mine was to replace the CHC-122's with CHC-125's and get some of the v2 45 degree connectors since they seem to be a bit more rugged. However, this configuration isn't quite as low profile as the CHC-122's are.
