Plumbing for two rads

Postby bradywang » Tue Feb 17, 2009 10:21 pm

About a year and a half ago I bought a Titan case http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage.aspx?ISList=11-168-001-S01%2c11-168-001-S02%2c11-168-001-S03%2c11-168-001-S04%2c11-168-001-S05%2c11-168-001-S06%2c11-168-001-S07%2c11-168-001-S08%2c11-168-001-S09%2c11-168-001-S10%2c11-168-001-S11%2c11-168-001-S12%2c11-168-001-S13&S7ImageFlag=1&Item=N82E16811168001&Depa=0&WaterMark=1&Description=Titan%20Water%20case%20TWC-A88%2fAB%20Black%20Computer%20Case%20-%20Retail. The pump went out about 2 mounts ago and i an slowly upgrading it. I plan on putting 2 HX-720 Dual 120mm rads in this case right where the old rad was. Would it be better to run the rads in series or in parallel. I will be running 13mm id tubing. Thnak you for your help.

It completely depends on how the rest of your case is hooked up. If you only liquid cooling a CPU and nothing else for example I'd be temped to play with putting them in parallel and serial to look at the resulting flow rates/temperatures would be. However if your cooling more than 1 component your best option will be serial similar to the example below

res > pump > CPU > rad1 > GPU(+GPUn) > rad 2 > return

Also as a side note looking at the pictures, radiators such as these and the ones that were placed in that case are not very good for passive setups but great for active setups. If your only using 2 fan out of the 4 fan positions as the picture suggests your really loosing a lot of cooling potential.

I will defenly rethink my run idea i was thinking pump > splitter > rads > splitter > cpu > gpu >(motherboard compunets later on) > res. As for the fans I was thinking about using 2 SHR-1020BK 3 fan Shroud horizontally. I can't use the 3 fan rad and open and close the case. But to do that i will have to remove the rear fan and will have to mod the top of the case witch I will be doing anyways they made the top very restricted for air flow from the fan Image the two fans in the PSU and the soon to be modded top should allow enough air flow out.
